Post Graduate and Research Department of Mathematics The Department of mathematics was established in the year 1955, with the mission to uplift the down-trodden, poor and marginalized. The department is embedded with power of antiquity, richness of heritage, the pride of serving for the cause of education.The departmentis one of the premiere Departments in Khadir Mohideen College and has a lion`s share in the prominence and the progress of this great educational institution. In 1955, the University of Madras granted permission to run the 3 years B.Sc. Degree course in Mathematics. Incessant showers of success from the Department at the undergraduate level ever since 1955 proved its academic fertility to stake its claim for the postgraduate course in Mathematics. From 2007 onwards, the Department offers M.Sc. in Mathematics in the self-financed stream. In 2011, the Department started Full-Time M.Phil. Mathematics to fulfil the requirement of theP.G. students. During 2012, the department started offeringPh.D.in Mathematics (Both Full-Time and Part-Time) and become a full-fledged Research Department. In order to meet the overwhelming response from +2 students, a self-funded B.Sc. Mathematics section also started in the year 2018. At present the Department has 10 dedicated faculty members specialized in diverse areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics. The Department has a well-equipped computer laboratory with printing and xerox facilities and latest software like MATLAB, Kile (LaTex Editor) and so on. Special coaching and counselling have been given to students seeking admission into premier institutions like IIT, IISc, NIT, Central, State and Anna University and Top Colleges in India. Special coaching classes are conducted for SET/NET aspirants. Job seekers are given appropriate counselling. Eligible UG and PG students are encouraged to participate in MTTS and OFCM programs. Alumni and parents meetingare conducted periodicallyand their suggestions are dealt with.
